Precision Attachment Skeleton Partial Prostheses

There are a number of advantages of the crochets used in removable partial prostheses, however there are also disadvantages as they affect the aesthetics negatively.

they cause the unsuitable force on the support teeth and thus cause unwanted movements in the teeth when they are not prepared in accordance with the clinical conditions, cause abrasion in the teeth as a result of their mechanical friction, increase the tendency of plaque accumulation and caries in the teeth to which they are applied, and their retention and stability are not very good. If clinical conditions are appropriate, it is suitable to use precision attachment to eliminate these disadvantages of crochets.

Precision attachment is an alternative to crochet holders for removable partial dentures, especially where aesthetics are at the forefront. This type of prosthesis is used in cases where it is not appropriate to use crochet holders and fixed prostheses. Precision attachment removable partial prostheses are more resistant to vertical and horizontal displacement of the prosthesis against functional forces. Precision attachments have many advantages compared to crochet holding removable partial prosthesis, such as balanced distribution of forces and aesthetic appearance.
